Munster High School boasts a strong academic program with 19 Advanced Placement courses and 34 dual credit courses. During the 2012-2013 school year, MHS administered 621 Advanced Placement Exams with 80% of the students receiving a score of 3 or higher, which is the standard for college credit with most universities. We have been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as the best high school in Lake County, sixth best high school in the state and third highest rated public school in Indiana. MHS recently received a grade of “A” from the Indiana Department of Education.
Along with our strong tradition of academic excellence, MHS offers outstanding extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Twenty-nine academic and curricular clubs are available for the far-reaching interests of our student population. Three of our most successful programs are the state champion Speech and Debate, Science Olympiad, and DECA teams. The athletic tradition of MHS is also very strong as evidenced by the fact that many teams have won numerous conference and sectional championships. Our Dance team was state champions in the Lyrical Division last year. For the majority of the season, the boys’ basketball team was ranked #1 in the state. The rest of our sports teams won eleven conference championships, ten sectional championships and two regional championships. In addition, both boys and girls were “All Sports” conference champions.
Our faculty and staff are tireless workers who are always looking to improve instruction, coaching, and doing what is best for students. If you would like to become more involved with the school, we invite you to join or PTO, our Booster Club, and/or the Principal’s Advisory Team. Please email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call (836-3200) if you are interested in joining one of these organizations.
We are looking forward to another year of watching our students achieve excellence. When a school community embraces dedication and high expectations, it is truly a wonder to watch a school year unfold.
