- Plans and oversees all maintenance and repair work through managing the maintenance work order process
- Arranges for substitute custodial services as needed
- Orders and maintains suitable supplies, tools, and equipment for all district facilities and property
- Assists in the selection, assignment, scheduling, training, and evaluation of custodial staff
- Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity
- Ensures that all activities conform to government regulations protecting the health, safety, and rights of employees and the public (including but not limited to asbestos, hazardous chemicals, access to buildings by the handicapped, and playground safety)
- Adheres to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan
- Keeps inventory on maintenance equipment and supplies
- Develops a system for dealing with emergency repair problems

- Reports major repairs needed promptly to the Principal, Supervisor of Building and Grounds or the Director of Operations
- Maintains a regular schedule of maintenance on all mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing

- Raking and bagging leaves and debris from around buildings, entrances, sidewalks, parking lots, athletic fields, and other areas of the district grounds
- Remove weeds from plant beds and around buildings and facilities
- Clear out over grown landscaping and install weed barriers and mulch, stone, or other product in planting beds as directed by supervisor
- Cleans trash containers located around the outside of district buildings
- Assists with snow removal and salt applications around buildings, sidewalks, parking lots and entrances to buildings during the winter months

Bus Driver |
- Skilled in the operation of light and heavy school buses in transporting students to and from schools
- Transports students to and from school, following a preplanned route according to a definite time schedule
- Completes a daily pre-trip inspection of bus before routes.
- Drives bus carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations. Assumes responsibility for the safety of school children in loading, unloading and transporting them to and from school and on field trips
- Ensures that communication device (e.g. two-way radio) is in proper working order before each trip
- Regulates heating equipment and ventilation of bus for comfort of passengers
- Instructs children in safety precautions and practices. Signals children when to cross street and assures that children are safely across upon departure from bus
- Maintains discipline; reports unruly behavior to principal of school or to supervisor
- Inspects all seats on the bus at the end of each route to make sure no students are left on bus
- Inspects and sweeps bus. Keeps bus clean of all debris
- Conducts two yearly bus evacuation drills
- Attends mandatory state safety meetings and local in-service meetings
- Maintains a current CDL license

- Assists the driver when requested or required
- Assists students requiring help getting on and off the bus
- Assists students using wheelchairs by operating the lift from outside the bus
- Constantly monitors students’ well-being and behavior during route
- Responds appropriately to students’ needs during route and notifies the driver if an emergency exists
- Stores and secures all student equipment that is to be transported
- Secures student seatbelts, harnesses and/or car seat restraints. For students able to belt themselves in, double checks for student safety and well- being
- Provides First Aid only as trained and required by the situation
- Assists the driver when backing up of the bus is necessary

- Staff members first point of contact to report any broken, missing, or non-functioning equipment in order to generate a work order to plan and resource a repair
